We watched the movie Ratatouille and discussed whether it was a healthy restaurant or an unhealthy restaurant.

This morning groups presented on their contributor to Manitoba. They were quick and very formative! After the break we will continue to learn about the creation of Manitoba!
Students had a final period to finish their "Not a Box". A school wide gallery walk of "Not a Box" occurred in the afternoon! This morning we continued with estimation 180, as well as TUSC presentations.
This afternoon we spent majority of the time creating our "Not a Box". The thought process and creation that occurred was incredible! Presentations will take place on THURSDAY Dec. 21st instead of tomorrow - Ms. Bruce wants to ensure there is time tomorrow to work on "Not a Box". Students who are prepared and want to present tomorrow, they will be prioritized.

Students watched a Bill Nye video on nutrition for health while filling in a worksheet. Estimation 180 will be taking place everyday this week to get back into the habit of guessing! Day 63 was completed. Math quizzes were reviewed and returned back to the students. Parents, you may ask your child how they did/ see the quiz! We spent time after yoga in a morning meeting to listen for ideas for our secret santa gifts. This morning meeting was student-led and it was went smoothly! It was our last TUSC meeting for 2017! The next one will be the second week of school when we come back. Today we looked at different foods and physical activities that contributes to bone development!
Students received class time to study for their quiz tomorrow for math. A full hour was spent in the library today with the computers to continue their research on Manitoba's contributors. Secret Santa classmates were chosen - remember this is a secret! We discussed that Ms. Bruce had to use her knowledge of factors to play this game by calling out numbers for students. A hilarious vegetable showdown determined our mingle winner!
We went over the review for the quiz, and discussed more examples of prime number tree diagrams. During learning buddies Ms. Bruce read three books to the classes that introduced the idea of "not a box". A few pages were read aloud from The City of Ember. We will continue going over the answers tomorrow - students have until tomorrow to finish it up, if not completed!
During science we began to discuss another branch from the fungi kingdom - yeast! We did another experiment with yeast, sugar, warm water, and balloons! Two of the balloons rose, but one didn't... why? We will discuss more tomorrow! While we waited for the experiment to take place, we watched a Magic School Bus episode on baking - instead of yeast as their chemical reaction, they used vinegar and baking soda! During social studies, students chose a partner to research someone who has impacted Manitoba in the past. Two more classes will be provided to research. Mini presentations are WED. Dec. 20th **Multiples and factors quiz FRI Dec. 15th **T.U.S.C. presentations FRI Dec. 15th **Manitoban mini presentations WED. Dec. 20th Students were given time to complete their reviews. Answers will be given tomorrow - it is encouraged that they try to finish it before receiving answers.
Daily Edit, late T.U.S.C. presentations, and a read aloud of The City of Ember were accomplished before afternoon recess. After recess, students examined their pieces of bread and completed the "methods" and wrote down an observation in their "results". Our experiment is still ongoing! During social studies we reviewed what push and pull factors are, along with how transportation and communication was different by looking at a photo of Canada. **Math review is due tomorrow **Math quiz is FRIDAY Dec. 15th **T.U.S.C. is FRIDAY Dec. 15th |
