It was our final day together!
We began the morning with some challenges, followed by going to the library to take home books for the summer to keep! Before lunch students played a game called bucket ball and met their grade 6 teacher. In the afternoon we watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, while Ms. Bruce finished packing up the room. Thank you Bairdmore families for a wonderful year with your child. I wish everyone the best of luck in the future and hope to see you again! **HAVE A FABULOUS SUMMER BREAK <3

This afternoon was the Grade 6 Farewell. **LAST DAY OF SCHOOL TOMORROW **BRING GAMES TMRW Students were challenged to complete an activity by just looking at an image of the final product. Their "reward" was their yearbook!
This afternoon was outdoor station day, followed by desk clean out and supplies! **Movie tmrw AM **Grade 6 grad PM - starts at 1:15 (be here for 12:40 - if your child stays home to get ready, please call the office!) **LAST DAY OF CLASS THURSDAY June 27TH We began the morning with a grade 6 farewell rehearsal, followed by estimation and science presentations.
After recess students worked on their 'advice to you' booklet, images for their creative story, and began making boxes for Ms. Bruce to pack her items in. This afternoon was filled by the talent show and MUGG picnic! **Bring USB to school to save files TMRW **Advice to You booklet due TMRW **Images/ creative story due TMRW Students corrected the math homework, followed by time in the computer lab to type their creative stories.
Before lunch we had the walk-a-thon! Ms. Bruce was away this afternoon - students continued their estimation presentations, and wrote letters to the grade 3 students Ms. Bruce will be teaching next year! Students were introduced to how to draw angles with protractors! Estimation presentations began today. While the Gr.'s were at bowling, the grade 5's began typing out their creative stories and created a valour medal. Science inquiry presentations began today as well **Page 141 #1-5 due TMRW **Bring cookies for MUGG picnic Mon June 24th All morning we completed our final TUSC meeting of the year! Wonderful presentations!
This afternoon students read about Canadian heroes who have displayed valour during WWI. We connected Valour FC and the mascot of the team to WWI! We also learned why Pine Street was changed to Valour Road in Winnipeg! To end the day, students had time to research a science question! These will be presented tomorrow. **Estimation presentations TMRW (pretend to be Mr. Stadel - have a bench mark, and display the answer) **Science research presentations TMRW (if you helped with primary play day - you get to just watch the presentations!) We started the day with active start, followed by correcting the math homework from last week.
Students were given more practice questions to measure angles with protractors. This afternoon the grade 6's went to visit Acadia, while the grade 5's and I got inspired from cake decorating videos for an art lesson. Science tests were give back to students today! Parents, please ask to see these. **FINAL TUSC TMRW **Estimation presentations Thurs June 20th This morning students worked on their art for the yearbook.
Time was provided for students to complete their creative stories, and classmates began to edit them before typing! This afternoon Ms. Pype joined our class and began discussing what gender stereotypes are. We ended the day looking at the trench warfare during WWI, and visited the website https://www.warmuseum.ca/overthetop/ We began to correlate the terms valour and trenches to our soccer team Valour FC, and how it's related to social studies! **Math page 136 #2-9 due TMRW **Final TUSC Wed June 19th **Estimation presentations Thurs June 20th **Creative story edited by Thurs June 20th Students wrote their final spelling test of the year today!
Time was provided to continue writing their creative stories: Creative Story Writing! – Rough copy due Monday June 17th We will begin to edit/ type Monday June 17th Ask the following questions: - SO MUCH TO CONSIDER J Do I have capitals for names, places, beginning of sentences? Do I have proper paragraphs? New paragraph for new ideas! Do I have punctuation at the end of sentences? When I read my writing, do I take a pause to breath – if so, is there punctuation? (NO RUN ON SENTENCES!) Do I have character development? Do I have their thoughts? Do I explain what they look like? Do I have a setting? Time and place? Can Ms. Bruce draw the setting with the description I have given? Do I have a beginning, middle, end? Do I have a conflict that the characters are dealing with? Do they solve the conflict at the end? Is there a message/ moral of the story? (THINK THEME!) Students practiced measuring angles with protractors.
