We began the day with morning meeting, followed by a work period to catch up on incomplete work (math review, alliteration poem, and math games to prepare for the quiz)!
Students played a mental math division game during problem solving called, Division Dash. The grade 6's had immunizations today - well done everyone! We started the week off with new word sortment - suffixes with ly and -tion
A math review was provided for students that will be similar to questions on the quiz on Friday. S.S. presentations began today! Students are the teachers while being the experts on their topics. They are responsible to mark the quizzes as well! This afternoon was filled with idioms - readers theatre style. Time was given to begin our ice cream alliteration poems. A final class was provided for students to finally complete their social studies research project. Presentations and quizzes will begin on Monday. This afternoon students were introduced to idioms - readers theatre style! These will be presented to the class Monday as well! A second last class was provided to finish the social studies projects. Tomorrow will be the final class before presentations begin next week! Before lunch students had creative writing and continued after lunch too. We looked at examples of alliteration and will be creating an icecream alliteration poem tomorrow! Before the end of the day, students presented their product evaluations. Students reflected afterwards and realized that we conducted a proper experiment! We asked a question of "what product is better" We created a hypothesis - I think this product will be better... We then planned and conducted the experiment - what are we going to compare and how are we going to record this. Students then shared their results - worked as a group to decide how to present their information to the class. We corrected and reviewed the math homework- placing mixed numbers and fractions greater than one on a number line. Starting Thursday Apr 25th for the month of May, every Thursday from 3:30-4:15 there will be Math Club with me! This is an opportunity for students to ask for help, or complete math homework! Before lunch, we attended an Earth Day assembly! Before lunch students played a mental math Yahtzee game. Students had to solve three digit multiplication! This afternoon groups worked together to create and represent their data from their product evaluation from last week. These will be presented on Wednesday! To end the day, the grade 6's who were in the musical presented their TUSC. While the grade 6 actors practiced this morning, grade 5 students presented their TUSC. Grade 6's will present sometime tomorrow or Monday. There was plenty of rehearsal time throughout the day for the musical. During science students had the opportunity to compare name brand foods.
