We started the day with an active start dance, followed by writing TWAS.
During math we discussed different strategies to sort polygons - next week we will begin 3D shapes. This afternoon we spent time reading to ourselves and with someone, before watching some short videos about different animals and their offspring! We ended the day with our WTW assortments. Agenda:

We began the day with a morning message, and daily 5 - we reviewed what a homophone is.
Mrs. Austen joined us for a PATHS lesson about our feelings and the intensity we can feel them at. We then practiced using quotation marks with beginning tags, middle tags, and ending tags. In math we continued our practice with creating different polygons. In the afternoon we looked at Canadian textbooks and discussed what we noticed in them - and compared it to our ads! We ended the day with cutting out our WTW and tried to categorize them. Agenda:
Students were given time to glue their WTW words, and practice before the spelling test this afternoon.
In math we reviewed the different polygons and practice creating some on geoboards today! It was choice during Daily 5 today, and we ended the day with a continuation of our 3D alphabet letters. Agenda:
We began the day with active start, followed by Daily 5 (a continuation from yesterday).
During math students were challenged to describe an object to their partner. We discussed that location, size, step by step (sequence), volume, and vocabulary terms (in this case shapes!) are important while we communicate in math. This was an introduction to our shapes unit. We also reviewed what polygons are. This afternoon time was provided one last time in class to complete the S.S. ads. We then learned about Andy Warhol and pop art. Students will be creating their own four letter pop art with the use of 3D letters! Agenda:
During daily 5 we worked on creative writing, read to someone, read to self, read with Ms. Bruce, and WTW sentences. We completed our TUSC presentations today as well.
During science we discussed what offsprings are, and how they may be similar or different to their parents. Time was provided to continue their S.S. ad posters! Agenda:
We started the day with a morning meeting that was ran by two students for the first time! We then practiced using quotation marks, followed by one round of Daily 5.
Our problem solving today was about counting leap years - we used our knowledge of multiples of 4 to help us out! Time was provided afterwards to continue our S.S. ad. This afternoon was TUSC, which had to be cut short because we had a visit with baby Mila! Agenda:
This morning we had choice for daily 5, followed by creating proper questions.
Math quizzes were handed back today and we completed 642 for the number of the day. During science we took notes on different animal groups and how we can classify animals. We read with our learning buddies, before we continued our W.T.W. definitions. Agenda:
This morning we started the day with a morning message, and daily edit.
We reviewed the four strategies for multiplication before our math quiz! During daily 5 we continued our weekend writing, read to someone, read to self, worked on our WTW definitions, and read with Ms. Bruce. This afternoon we continued our conversations about push and pull factors for immigrants. We are creating ads for why someone should come to Canada! Agenda:
This morning we had daily 5 - students began to write about their weekend, started writing definitions of their WTW, and read with me.
During math we corrected and went over the math review. The math quiz is tomorrow - it is very similar to the review (just using different numbers!). We played some multiplication games as a light review afterwards. This afternoon we practiced writing three different sentences with the use of the same topics. We created telling, question, and exclamation sentences. We are still practicing using the proper punctuation, using capitals at the beginning of the sentence, and making sure our sentences make sense! Agenda:
Happy Valentine's Day!
This morning was a fun filled with Festival du Voyageur activities, followed by celebrating Valentine's Day in the afternoon with snacks, Pixar short films, and board games. We ended the day with writing to you about our exciting day! Agenda:
