We started the day with writing an entry for T.W.A.S. but focused on what we did during this pandemic! We then set up our Prodigy accounts to be linked to the class (see previous email about how to join, or just email Ms. Bruce!)
After recess students were challenged to find the root digit to words - this activity is great for addition skills! See @starbucksandteach Instagram story for an update. After lunch we read before phys ed, followed by finishing the movie Rio. We reviewed who was in the story, where it took place, what the problem was, and how it was resolved. We ended the day with morning meeting games! I hope everyone uses this time to really connect with family, and support one another! For next week ideas, please see the email that was sent out on Wednesday, March 18th. Stay tuned for an email from Van Walleghem School regarding Seesaw - I will begin to use that platform beginning April 6th to upload more ideas and activities. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to email me - I will do my best with providing what you are looking for! I will be near my computer from 8:45-3:30 Monday to Friday to answer emails! Take care, and hopefully will see each other again soon.

We spent our morning with Mr. Braun's class and played some board games after French.
We then completed day 117 on Estimation 180 before phys ed. This afternoon Ms. Bruce was in a meeting learning about how to use Seesaw to send out lessons/ assignments virtually the week of April 6th. Parents stay tuned for an email from the admin explaining this process. We ended the day with finishing some Pop art, and following guided drawings from Art Hub for Kids on Youtube. Agenda: 1. Always wash your hands! We started the day with a morning meeting and shared a highlight from this year so far. We also rehearsed our reader's theater one last time before we present them tomorrow.
During math we looked at two estimation 180 days, day 208 & 116. Students were then challenged to build 3D nets and record the name, vertices, edges, and faces each had. This afternoon we successfully escaped from a digital breakout room - St. Patrick's Day style! We ended the day with completely our Pop Art! Agenda:
We started the day with positivity through our morning message. We then completed a daily edit and discussed how past tense words may change with just adding 'ed/d' or completely changing the word.
During daily 5 students read to themselves followed by writing in a journal entry of what is happening around the world in regards to COVID-19. How are they feeling, what is happening at school/ home, etc. (I encourage all students to begin to write in a journal everyday to document what is happening). During math we reviewed vertices, edges, and faces of 3D shapes - tomorrow we will turn flat nets into 3D shapes! In the afternoon we practiced rehearsing our reader's theaters of idioms, and ended the day with a guided drawing. Agenda: 1. Wear green tomorrow 2. Always wash your hands! We started our morning writing T.W.A.S. followed by making an inference about a problem through a photo that was shown during PATHS.
This afternoon was a very busy, and successful afternoon. We had our W.T.W. test (the scores will be given on Monday), finished our design report for our bird's nest, and continued our Pop Art! Agenda:
Students who were away yesterday, presented their T.U.S.C. presentations, followed by Daily 5. Groups met in their reader's theater and practiced - these will continue into next week!

This morning we started the day with morning meeting and shared a science fact that we have learned so far, followed by playing "mystery winker"!

We also identified how animals meet their needs. With our learning buddies we practiced our multiples of threes and fours. Agenda:
We began the morning reflecting about a fact that we learned this week, followed by daily edit. We learned about what idioms are - sayings that have two meanings; a literal meaning and a figurative speech meaning.
In math we reviewed the 3 properties of a 3D shape and discussed the qualities of a sphere, cylinder, and cone. In social studies today we thought of rules, rights, and responsibility that we encounter at school. These are important to help develop the kind of person we are. Agenda:
